Increasing number of connected devices leads to a networked world, but AirPatrol’s Sage Osterfeld says to think “security first” instead of as an afterthought.

Columbia, MD September 26, 2013 – The Internet of Things has grown exponentially this year and innovative technology continues to push it forward. However, security professionals are cautious of what happens when your refrigerator, coffee pot, car, and of course your phone are all connected.

“Enterprises continue to define security practices around mobile devices as BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) has grown in popularity. When multiple devices and even appliances are wirelessly active, users need to think about how the changes impact their personal security and privacy,” said Sage Osterfeld, AirPatrol Corporation Chief Marketing Officer. “The precautions taken in the workplace should be mirrored when one activates devices in the home. After all, your most confidential and private materials exist within your home environment and network.”

Sage will be joining an expert panel at the CyberHive event on October 2, 2013 from 3:15 – 9pm at the SDG&E Innovation Center (4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Sand Diego, CA 92117). Sage will be joined by Cecilia Anastos of Meta Enterprises, Chris Vera of San Diego Gas and Electric, and Jauher Zaidi of Appriva and Palmchip to discuss privacy and security implications during this new technology phenomenon.

CyberHive is a sustainable non-profit co-work space and incubator/accelerator community focused in the area of high technology and cybersecurity. Registration for the event is open. Please RSVP here:
