Yesterday, AirPatrol Corporation was invited to attend the NCCoE (National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence) for the NCEP (National Cybersecurity Excellence Partnership) signing ceremony. Also attending the event were US Senator Barbara Mikulski, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, and National Security Agency Director General Keith Alexander.
These leaders in cybersecurity and policy expressed why cooperation between industry and government is vital in securing the cyber world. Industry has the lead in cyber and it’s important to do more now. As General Alexander said, “This is huge, and it’s only going to get worse.”
The front lines in cyber are everywhere and battles happen constantly. The signing of industry leaders to work with NCCoE is an opportunity to accept the responsibility of the cyber game and create powerful standards. With this partnership, Maryland is hosting and growing the cyber foundation for the rest of the country.
On the same note, the InvestMaryland Challenge wrapped up last night with AirPatrol taking home a special award. The winner of the IT category was RedOwl Analytics, a company that concentrates on monitoring and examination of people and trends to make predictions. Congratulations, and the message of continuous monitoring in order to protect an environment, whether it is an enterprise, agency or an outdoor location is important.
With industry involvement for government policy creation and support of innovative technology entrepreneurs, we will create a future that stops another tragedy like Boston’s yesterday.
